Here, a list of books I read in 2013. Looking it over, this is a fairly accurate sampling of the type of books I like to read, which is mostly young adult literature (being an English teacher I just can't help it!) and memoirs.
I'm hoping this year to spread my horizons to different kinds of non-fiction and more adult fiction. I guess I just haven't been ready to read about having kids and getting divorced and paying taxes and all that grown-up stuff. But who am I to judge what adult fiction is or isn't? Perhaps I will be pleasantly surprised!
Anyway, here it is:
January:
The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin *
In the Garden of Beasts by Erik Larson *
Growing Up Amish: A Memoir by Ira Wagler
February:
The Maze Runner by James Dashner
Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell *
March:
Stolen by Lucy Christopher
The Money Book for the Young, Fabulous, and Broke by Suze Orman
April:
The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary E. Pearson
May:
The City of Dreaming Books by Walters Moers
Never Fall Down by Patricia McCormick *
Bossy Pants by Tina Fey
June:
A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness
July/August:
None. Can you believe it? :( I'm blaming sweet corn season and wedding planning on this one. Camping, bachelorette parties, and planning for school might also be culprits? Fun, but yikes!
September:
Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein
October:
Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling
Unmeasured Strength by Lauren Manning
November:
Killing Lincoln by Bill O’Reilly *
The Alchemist by Paulo Choelo
December:
Paper Towns by John Greene
The Rock and the River by Kekla Magoon
Gaining Ground by Forrest Gaines *
* Denotes my six favorites, although quite honestly, there aren't many on this list that I didn't enjoy.
Cheers to a wonderful 2013 and for a new year of reading!
